Detectives are continuing to appeal for members of the public to come forward with information on the 13th anniversary of the murder of LucyHargreaves.

Mum-of-three, Lucy, was just 22 years old when she was murdered in her home in Walton on 3 August 2005 and this year should have been celebrating her 35th birthday.

In the early hours of 3 August 2005, three men burst into Lucy’s home on Lambourne Road, Walton. They shot Lucy as she lay on the sofa downstairs, when her partner and their two-year-old daughter were asleep upstairs.

Detective Chief Inspector, Mark Baker said: "Lucy’s murder remains one of the most brutal crimes we have ever seen on Merseyside. That night, after Lucy was shot, the offender poured petrol around the living room and hallway, before setting fire to the house. We believe the offenders would have been in no doubt they were killing a young woman. Their callous actions would have claimed the lives of two more people that night had Gary, her partner, not escaped the flames by jumping with his daughter.

"We are continually determined to bring Lucy Hargreaves' killers to justice and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

"Lucy was an innocent victim and this year she should be celebrating her 35th birthday with her family - instead they have been robbed of a loving mother and daughter.

“I know over the years people move away and loyalties change and I would call on those people to now come forward with the information they have or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously. I'd like to reassure them that there are special measures that can be put in place to protect witnesses in serious cases such as this. Someone, somewhere must have information which can help the investigation and bring some kind of closure to Lucy’s family.”

As part of the investigation detectives still want to trace Kevin Parle as they believe he could have information which could assist with their enquiries.

It is thought that Parle, now 38 years old, may be living abroad and there is a European arrest warrant out for his arrest in relation to the death of 16 year-old Liam Kelly who was murdered in Dingle in June 2004.

Parle is described as white, 6ft 5in tall with a broad build. He has blue eyes, ginger hair and a 1” scar on the left side of his head. A number of images of what Kevin Parle may look like now have been produced. Kevinparle

Officers are also continuing their appeal for any information about a Gold Lexus registration NAD499. The car was found burnt out shortly after the incident in Richard Kelly Drive, Clubmoor. It is thought a number of males dumped the car before running in the direction of Normandale Road.

Anyone with information on the death of Lucy Hargreaves or the whereabouts of Kevin Parle is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 or @CrimestoppersUK
